Jay Cooke Elementary School Reviews

I agree with the parent who posted the review on March 17, 2008. There is never a full classroom of parents for parent teacher conferences. Also I have a problem with the teachers, they only call or send notes when the child is doing disruptive. I will call and leave messages for the teachers to call me or email because I would like to know the progress of my school work and I only received two calls from the 4 teachers I called. They really need to revamp this school because so many children there has the potiental to grow up successful but to me the teachers act like they don't care. This is my child's last year there and I thank God he made it through. I hope for the best for the students that are still attending this school this fall.

this is quiet possibly the worst school i ever stepped in. it is a dump. but stop blaming the school and start looking at some of these parents. pretty bad when you have zero attendance at parent teacher conferences when you are a neighborhood school. i dont blame the stff for not caring anymore...get out while ou still can.

This school needs help from everywhere. I have 2 children who unfortunately attend this school. The best thing I can say about the school is the building looks nice, and it is within walking distance of our neighborhood. The district, the parents, the staff, and anyone else who has the power to do so, needs to get into this school and make some serious changes. This is not a safe environment for children at all. The staff at the school are so worried about test scores and attendance that they are ignoring disciplinary standards. As a result, the school is being cultivated into a culture of violence. Behaviors that are clearly not acceptable are being regularly ignored in order to maintain positve appearances statistically. This school is a great example of why 'No Child Left Behind' is not an acceptable program as it is currently being implemented.

I had two children in elementary grades - the teachers did not show attentiveness toward the children's education... they required bare minimum. Was definitely NOT an environment which inspired growth or progress. My wife and I were concerned for our children's safety daily. It seems that the school would like to do well, but there's no contribution from faculty or most parents.
