West Oak Lane Christian Academy Reviews

This is my son's 4th year at West Oak Lane Christian Academy. He's been there since Kindergarten. The teachers and the good curriculum they have is outstanding along with the spirtual growth that he his received from attending here for the past 4 years. But unfortunately the tuition for 2008-2009 is causing me to look into other good academic schools for him. But I would recommend this school for other parents who could afford a good starting foundation for their kids. Thank you for a good start for my son who will miss all the friends he has made in 4 years time. Good luck in the new school. God Bless.

My son is presently in the first grade and has been attending this school since kindergarten. I have been very impressed with the level of wok that he is able to produce compared to other children in his age group. I have been extremely pleased with my son's accomplishment, especially since he is being provided with a good spiritual and academic foundation. However at this time, my heart is breaking because the school will be moving to a new building and their tuition is being increased considerably higher than other private schools in the area. I only have one child but I cannot afford the extremely ridiculous high base fees, excluding additional charges for lunches, and before and after care. This school has been wonderful for me andd my family, but if their adminstration is not careful about their greed, their enrollment will be considerably low or non-existent for 2008

My child has been at WOLCA for two years. She went there for pre-k and now kindergarden. I think the teachers are wonderful. They are accessible to talk to at any time and know each child personally. I think it's a great start for any child.

I had 3 children go to the academy since 2002. This is a great school for academics and spiritual growth. The children get a different Bible verse that's emphasized thoroughly each week and easily compliments the Christian values we teach at home. I'm very impressed by the quality of education that the children received. I feel like they have an academic edge over other children in their age group. The only complaint I have is that the tuition rate increases every year and by me being a regular tithing member of the West Oak Lane Church of God, I felt as if there should have been some consideration towards that. I've had to pull two of the children out because I could no longer afford it. There's a before and after care program, but not structured. Overall, I'd recommend to those who can afford $397+ a month per child.

I have had my daughter at several schools but this is absolutely one of the best schools academically, and I have had other children at catholic schools. They use the becker system and this tool seems to be very effective in the teaching. The concentration is academic and everything is secondary to academics. Their extracurricular activities are limited, such as afterschool programs. They do have an afterschool program for latchkey kids but no afterschool sport or club activities. It depfends on what you are looking for but it feels whn your child is in first grade but can easily read at a second to thrid grade level. This is the absolute truth. Once I substituted a fifth grade class at a school in Montgomery county and the information that was being taught to this class for science was the same information being taught to my daughter's first grade class.
